We present a series of audiovisual books to teach Persian to non-Persian speakers interested in learning this language from scratch. The book is intended for a variety of audiences ranging from children to adults with different backgrounds and purposes. Each volume of the series has been devoted to a level of language proficiency, from elementary to the advanced one. B) Audio-Visual story books
We present a series of bilingual audio-visual stories with subtitles both in English and Persian in the form of Android Applications demonstrated in Google Play website. The language of the stories’ narration is Persian. So, the application is very useful for English Speakers who are interested in learning Persian. It is also of interest for Persian speakers to watch and listen to some famous and informative stories and enjoy.
C) Bilingual Idioms book
The book Contains more than 14,000 idioms and expressions pairs. These idioms and expressions are in two languages – English and Persian. Each English phrase or sentence in this book is exactly the equivalent of its Persian counterpart and vice versa. The book can be found in Amazon.com website.
2- Software
A) Persian Audio Dictionary
This software consists of more than 50,000 entries (along with almost all word-forms and proper names) with corresponding audio files and English transliterations. The words have been recorded with standard Persian (Farsi) pronunciation (all by a single person).
B) English-Persian Concordance Software
The English-Persian parallel corpus contains more than 200,000 aligned sentences across a variety of text types from the domains of art, law, culture, science, religion, literature, medicine, idioms, politics and others. It is an extension of the English-Persian parallel corpus already distributed by ELRA (Catalogue Reference: ELRA-W0051). This new version of the corpus is distributed with a concordance program which allows users to search a word or a phrase (in continuous or discontinuous forms) or simply a chunk across the concordance and to obtain information about the number of records (here, sentences) and items found, separately. The corpus is available in xml and in Access format.
